Corruption has hollowed out the country. Its roots are very strong. Most people at all levels are involved in corruption. It is true that some people shy away from taking bribes at different levels in different departments and sectors. These campaigns were started to stop such corruption, so only ZERO rupee notes were printed.
Actually, this note was not printed by the Reserve Bank, but by a non-governmental organization (NGO). In 2007, Fifth Pillar NGO in India printed zero rupee notes in Tamil Nadu. These NGOs had printed these notes in Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. Nearly five lakh people expressed their consent on this note that I will neither take nor give bribe.

People associated with the NGO distributed these notes in bus stations, railway stations, airports and in local markets. Along with, a pamphlet was also given to the people, which had information about making people aware and their rights. The purpose of printing these notes was to warn fraudsters. NGO said that if someone asked for bribe then represent the ZERO rupee not to such person. The steps might help to catch such people who take bribe in the country.
