South Africa vs Nepal, ICC T20 World Cup 2024: South Africa beat Nepal by one run. Nepal captain Rohit Paudel won the toss and decided to field first. Batting first, South Africa set a target of 116 for Nepal. Nepal needed 8 runs to win in the last over, then Nepal could only score 6 runs. Nepal's Gulshan Jha was run out on the last ball. South Africa won that match. With the defeat, Nepal's team is out of the Super-8 race in the T20 World Cup 2024.
Nepal's start against South Africa was not good. He was dismissed by Kusal Bhurtel for just 13 runs. After this, captain Rohit Paudel could not even open his account. But then Asif Sheikh and Anil Kumar batted well. Both of them tried to hold on to the wicket for a while. Anil Kumar scored 27 runs. Asif Sheikh played a fighting knock of 42 runs, but he got out on the ball of Tabraiz Shamsi. Deependra Singh scored 6 runs. Sompal Kami scored 8 runs in 4 balls. Nepal needed 2 runs to win off the last ball. Gulshan Jha was then run out.

The rest of the batsmen could not contribute much. Skipper Aiden Markram was dismissed for 15, Quinton de Kock for 10 and David Miller for 7. South Africa scored 115 runs in 20 overs. For Nepal, Kusal Bhurtel was the pick of the bowlers. He took 4 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs. Deependra Singh Airee took 3 wickets for 21 runs in 4 overs. Both these bowlers did not allow the South African batsmen to hit big strokes.
Nepal's team has been eliminated from the Super-8 race in the T20 World Cup 2024 after losing the match against South Africa. The team has played three matches so far, out of which they have lost 2. One match was cancelled. Nepal is scheduled to play against Bangladesh on June 16.
