Saudi King Salman's health suddenly Deteriorated, Treatment will be done in Royal Clinic

The health of Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has deteriorated. He has a lung infection and is being treated with antibiotics. The Royal Court gave a fresh update on the King's health on Sunday.

Earlier, Salman had complained of high fever and joint pain. He will undergo medical tests at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah. This is the second time in less than a month that the 88-year-old King's health has suddenly deteriorated.

King Salman got Infection in the lungs

According to a royal statement published by the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA), tests carried out on Sunday found that King has a lung infection and doctors have considered administering antibiotics until the inflammation is cleared.

King Salman has been on the throne since 2015, although his son, 38-year-old Mohammed bin Salman, was made crown prince in 2017 and serves as ruler. Saudi Arabia, the world's largest crude oil exporter, has been trying to calm speculation over King Salman's health for years.

In 2020, King Underwent for Surgery

The king's health is rarely discussed, but the Royal Court revealed in April that he had been admitted to King Faisal Specialist Hospital for routine check-ups. Earlier, he was admitted to the hospital in May 2022 when he went for a colonoscopy.

King Salman underwent surgery to remove his gallbladder in 2020. He was also admitted to the hospital in March 2022. King Salman has served as Riyadh's governor and defense minister for decades.

King handed over the throne in 2015

King Salman took over the throne in 2015. He has since promoted his son, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as king-in-waiting of the kingdom. It is believed that the Crown Prince handles the day-to-day affairs of the state. King Salman also served as Riyadh's governor and defense minister for decades.

Before becoming king, King Salman served as deputy governor of Riyadh and later governor of Riyadh for 48 years from 1963 to 2011. He served as the crown prince of Saudi Arabia from June 18, 2012 to January 23, 2015. He was later appointed as the Defence Minister. He was also the Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia from 2015 to 2022.
