Sudarshan Setu Dwarka City in Gujarat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Gujarat on a day-long visit. He inaugurated several development projects today (25th February 2024). One of these projects is the Sudarshan Setu. The 2.5 -km-long bridge is the longest cable-stayed bridge in India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India's longest cable-stayed bridge Sudarshan Setu, which spans around 2.32 km and connects Okha mainland to Beit Dwarka in Gujarat. Earlier known as' Signature Bridge ', the bridge has been renamed as' Sudarshan Setu 'or Sudarshan Bridge.
Bayt Dwarka is an island near Okha port, about 30 km from Dwarka city, where the famous Dwarkadhish temple of Lord Krishna is located. The 'Sudarshan Setu' is India's longest cable-stayed bridge, connecting the Okha mainland to the Bayt Dwarka island in Gujarat. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel was also present on the occasion.

The 2.5 -kilometre-long bridge is extremely important for both residents and pilgrims visiting the iconic Dwarkadhish Temple. The Centre started the construction of the bridge with a ground-breaking ceremony in 2017 with the goal of making travel between Okha and Bet Dwarka easier for devotees. Before its construction, pilgrims had to rely on boat transport to reach the Dwarkadhish Temple in Beit, Dwarka. Built at a cost of Rs 978 crore, the design of the bridge Signature Bridge is a different one, with shlokas of Bhagavad Gita on the footpath and pictures of Lord Krishna on both sides. It is also India's longest cable-stayed bridge, with solar panels installed on the upper portions of the footpath, generating one megawatt of electricity.
