Commonly known as Delhi-Meerut RRTS, the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System project is a rapid rail corridor. It covers almost 83 km distance and connects Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut through a rapid rail system. Only a 17-km stretch has been completed, but it showed how efficient the commute will be in the Delhi NCR Region.

The current Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present when the construction of the project began on 8th March 2019. He laid the project’s foundation stone and confirmed that the project would also meet the local transit needs of cities on the route.

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) made it a top priority to complete the 17 km priority section as soon as possible. The government planned to complete this section by March 2023 between Sahibabad and Duhai for regular operations, but it took almost 7 more months to be functional. Travellers may need to wait a little longer for the completion of the Delhi Meerut RRTS corridor.

The fast-speed train will go through Sarai Kale Khan, New Ashok Nagar, Sahibabad, Anand Vihar, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Muradnagar, Duhai, Modinagar South, Modinagar North, Shatabdi Nagar, Meerut South, and Begumpul, and Modipuram stations.

The Delhi Meerut RRTS corridor distance is over 82 km and there will be 2 depots in this corridor. Both depots will be situated at Duhai and Modipuram stations.

Delhi Meerut RRTS Corridor Construction Company

Many people want to know about the Delhi Meerut RRTS construction company. They wish to ensure that the construction company has a great track record of completing the infrastructure projects on time. It should not be a firm infamous for the lacklustre progress of major infrastructure projects.

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is managing the Delhi Meerut RRTC construction. It has been estimated that the project may be completed by June 2025. The NCRTC has already completed projects, such as the Delhi Metro corridor’s Blue Line and Tunneling in Meerut. It has covered enough infrastructure projects to assure people the Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor will be completed on time.

Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor Budget

Delhi Meerut RRTS Corridor

As per reports, the Delhi Meerut RRTS cost will be around 30,724 crore rupees. Since this project is connecting Delhi to two major cities in the Uttar Pradesh state, the UP Government will bear the 6,500 rupees cost of the project.

The cost of the project may increase if delays occur due to any possible reasons. Therefore, it is the government’s top priority to complete the project on time and gift this corridor to people, who are looking for faster travel solutions between Delhi and Meerut.

Why Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor is Important for the Region?

The Delhi to Meerut metro route will serve thousands of regular commuters. People usually drive to Delhi from Meerut or take the train when tickets or seats are available. It can take up to 2.5 hours to travel to Delhi by road and around 2 hours and 25 minutes by a regular train. People lose a lot of valuable time in travel!

The Indian Government decided to provide a faster and more comfortable means of travel between Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut. The Delhi-Meerut RRTS contractor NCRTC has confirmed that the project will connect 14 stations. People living near those stations will choose to travel through the rapid rail system instead of wasting time on other means of transportation.

Lakhs of people travel between Delhi and Meerut regularly. Delhi Meerut Distance is around 106 km and a multilane expressway is already connecting both cities. The region is still experiencing issues related to traffic and lack of rapid transportation medium. This project will reduce the load from the expressway and give more space for commercial vehicles.

Delhi Meerut RRTS stations will provide ample amenities and safety features to ensure all travellers will enjoy the journey. They will have top-class facilities to stay connected and comfortable throughout the journey.

The Delhi Meerut RRTS inauguration event was held on 20 October 2023. The UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the completed section of the project.

Many people presumed the entire project was completed, but that is not true. The entire 82 km long Delhi-Meerut corridor will be completed by June 2025. The government or the NCRTC has not provided an exact Delhi Meerut RRTS completion date, but it is expected to be in June 2025.

The Delhi Meerut RRTS inauguration date has been passed. Now, all the involved parties are working efficiently to complete the project on time. People living between Delhi and Meerut will not miss an opportunity to hop on the metros connecting both cities once the project is completed.
