MS Dhoni was born on 7 July 1981 in Ranchi, Bihar (currently Jharkhand) to a Hindu Rajput family. In 1998, MS Dhoni joined the CCL team, CCL advanced to the A division because of his performance. His passion and cricketing talents delighted Deval Sahay, who pushed for his Bihar selection. In 1999-2000, he was named for the senior Bihar Ranji squad aged 18. In the 1998-99 Cooch Behar Trophy, Dhoni scored 176 runs in 7 innings of 5 matches for Bihar Under-19. In 2004, MS Dhoni got a chance to play in the Indian cricket team. The 2000s saw Rahul Dravid as the wicketkeeper and then junior-ranked wicketkeeper-batsmen like Parthiv Patel and Dinesh Karthik were named in the team. But they didn't fit into the team combination. But when Dhoni made his mark in the India A team, he was selected for the ODI team for the Bangladesh tour in 2004-05. Dhoni made his ODI debut against Bangladesh at Chittagong on 23 December 2004. On 20 April 2006, Dhoni overtook Ricky Ponting to become the number one batsman in the ICC ODI rankings for batsmen and became the fastest batsman to do so in 42 innings.

In 2011, Dhoni led India to the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup with wins over Australia in the quarter-finals and Pakistan in the semi-finals. Dhoni, along with Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh, guided India to victory in the final, chasing down a target of 275 against Sri Lanka. Dhoni ended the match with a score of 91 * with a historic six and won India the World Cup trophy for the second time after a long wait of 28 years. He was awarded the 'Man of the Match' for his outstanding performance in the final of the 2011 Cricket World Cup.

MS Dhoni's Test Career: Dhoni made his Test debut against Bangladesh on 2 December 2005 and scored 30 runs in his first innings.MS Dhoni's performance in the ODI against Sri Lanka opened the doors of Test cricket for him. In December 2005, Dhoni replaced Dinesh Karthik as the wicketkeeper in the Indian Test team. He also holds the record for dismissing the most number of players in a match by an Indian wicketkeeper, which was broken by Wriddhiman Saha in 2018.
