Mohammed Shami Injury Update: Team India pacer Mohammed Shami has finally undergone a surgery. The injury during the World Cup 2023 kept him away from cricket for several months, but now he has got an operation on his heel. This is a big blow for Team India, as they will not be available for the T20 World Cup 2024. He will not be able to play for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024.
Mohammed Shami ruled out: Mohammed Shami, who took 24 wickets in 7 matches in the World Cup 2023 played in India, informed late on Monday night that he has undergone an operation. Shami shared a few pictures on Instagram and wrote, "Just had a successful operation on my Achilles tendon! The foot will take some time to heal, but I'm looking forward to getting back on my feet."
Shami last played an ODI for India in November 2023 against Australia. It was the final match of the 2023 World Cup. India lost the match by 6 wickets.
Mohammed Shami ruled out: Shami has undergone a leg operation in late February, but it will take more than 6 months for him to return to the field. He will also be unavailable for IPL 2024, the T20 World Cup, the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka in July and the home series against Bangladesh and New Zealand in October-November. However, he could be fit for the Australia tour. So that's good news.
Mohammed Shami had gone to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for rehab after the 2023 World Cup. As there was no benefit in his injury, he was sent to Britain to get a special injection. However, the injection did not affect Shami's injury, so he had to undergo surgery. If the same thing had been done earlier, maybe they could have been fit by the T20 World Cup.
