Kisan Andolan Reason or Demands of farmers in Kisan Andolan: The farmers took to the streets again to press for their demands. Clashes between police and farmers were also reported at the Sambhu border. In these clashes, farmers have destroyed police barricades.
Police have arrested many of the protestors. Looking at the situation, it does not seem that the farmers will go back. This time the farmers are adamant on their demands.
We tell you that earlier the farmers had agitated in the year 2020-21. Many people are also calling this huge farmers' movement after two years as Kisan Andolan 2.0. Let us know in detail their major demands in the farmers' protest 2024.
Kisan andolan 2024 Reason: Two years ago, the farmers' movement was so vocal that the Narendra Modi government had to repeal the Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act-2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities Amendment Act 2020.
Kisan andolan 2024 Reason: The farmers feared that the government could end the minimum support price system for select crops and promote corporatisation of farming through these laws. After this, they will have to face big agri-commodity companies.
The farmers had reached the Shambhu border in Punjab-Haryana on Tuesday (13 Feb) afternoon demanding a law for minimum support price and implementation of all recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission.
Tight security arrangements were made at the Shambhu border to stop the farmers from entering the Haryana border. Barbed wire was laid, barricading was done and a large number of paramilitary forces have been deployed.
Apart from this, a large number of police and paramilitary forces have been deployed on the borders of Singhu, Tikri, Ghazipur and Gautam Buddha Nagar.
Cement and iron barricading has also been done on some of these borders. Barbed wire and containers have also been placed to stop the farmers.
Tear gas shells were fired at the farmers when they tried to enter the Haryana border.
Mobile internet services have been suspended in seven districts of Haryana and Section 144 has been imposed in Panchkula and Chandigarh.
On Wednesday, the farmers' protest seemed a little quieter than on the first day. Although tear gas was used on the second day as on the first day, the farmers did not try to break the barricading.
Kisan andolan 2024 Reason: While the two major farmers organisations, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (apolitical) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, have given the slogan of 'Delhi Chalo' to press for their demands, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha has called for a one-day rural Bharat Bandh on February 16.
Kisan Andolan 2024 Demands: This time around 50 organisations are involved in the movement, such as Samyukta Kisan Morcha (apolitical) BKU (Shaheed Bhagat Singh) BKU (Ekta Sidhupur) Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, Bhartiya Kisan Naujawan Union and other organisations. Let’s understand the Kisan Andolan 2024 Demands in given points:
