This model ‘Carnival’ is Kia's premium MPV for India. At 5.1m long, the Carnival is somehow longer than the Innova Crysta. Kia has revealed the interior of the face lifted fourth-gen Carnival in its home country. It is expected to be launched in India in April 2024.
It has L-shaped headlight design with daytime running lamps, a wider grille, and a more erect snout. There are chrome accents on the grille and a small air intake located lower on the bumper, encircled by a fake brushed aluminum skid plate.
The tail lamps are linked by an LED light bar, completing the L-shaped design at the back. The rear bumper, meanwhile, is coated in a combination of chrome and matte black.
The 19-inch alloy wheels available on the redesigned Carnival are modeled after those found on more recent Kia models, such as the EV5 and EV9. Nevertheless, hybrid powertrain-equipped vehicles come with smaller, 18-inch alloy wheels.
The Carnival, which comes in four, seven, and nine-seater versions, has a new infotainment system that is curved and extends across the dashboard on the driver's side. It has two 12.3-inch screens: one serves as the infotainment unit and the other as the display for the digital instruments. Additionally, the MPV receives updated digital key, ambient lighting along the dashboard, a rotary drive selector, front and rear dash cameras, a heads-up display, a digital rearview mirror, and the ability to start the car with your fingerprint. The AC and audio controls are redesigned and are situated beneath the central screen.
Kia says that by utilizing superior materials for sound insulation, updating the infotainment system to accommodate over-the-air upgrades, and adjusting the MPV's shock absorbers, it has improved ride comfort and ambience within the interior. An additional option available is a 14.6-inch back entertainment screen.
Regarding security, the redesigned Kia Carnival comes equipped with an upgraded ADAS suite that includes features like adaptive cruise control, lane change assist, and more. The international model also comes with eight airbags as standard.
Three different powertrain options are available for the Carnival facelift: a 2.2-liter diesel, a 1.6-liter petrol hybrid, and a 3.5-liter gasoline. On the other hand, the India-spec vehicle has a 2.2-liter diesel engine that produces a maximum torque of 440 Nm and 197 horsepower. An eight-speed torque converter automatic gearbox is mated to this unit.
The new Carnival is larger than the outgoing model and is situated on a different platform. For the MPV, Kia has chosen a new design language that gives it a more upscale and durable appearance.
Its inside has also been updated, with a new dashboard that includes a rotary drive selector, digital driver's display, bigger touchscreen, and new climate control panel.
Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) features including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and auto-emergency braking are all part of the MPV's safety net. Multiple airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), and front and rear parking sensors are examples of additional safety equipment.
