Released on 3rd November 2023, Keeda Cola (Telugu movie) is a crime comedy entertainer directed by Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam. It is produced by K. Vivek Sudhanshu, Saikrishna Gadwal, Srinivas Kaushik Nanduri, Sripad Nandiraj, and Upendra Varma. Vivek Sagar gave music for the film, and AJ Aaron did the cinematography.
Usually, films belonging to this genre either fall flat on face or break box office records- all depending upon the direction, start cast, and story. The story of Keeda Cola revolves around the corporate world, its dealings, and a cockroach on the drink. Naidu, a local goon recently released from prison, makes an absurd plan to help his brother Jeevan, whose ambition is to be a corporate giant. They blackmailed one of the business owners by adding a cockroach to his drink and asked for ransom.
Another story goes parallel, in which Vaastu, a differently-abled orphan man, is seen struggling with a court case related to property. As per the court's decision, he has to pay a fine of Rs 1 crore. It is when his friend and lawyer, Kaushik, asked him to blackmail the same corporate owner and ask for ₹ 1 crore as ransom.
It is when these two parallel stories collide. Being a criminal, Naidu uses Vaastu as a pawn in this blackmail scheme. Soon, Vaastu finds out he is being dragged into a dangerous game of power and greed.
How Vaastu will escape from the gameplay of Jeevan and Naidu and clear his name in a court case will be interesting to watch. Since the movie falls under the crime comedy genre, everything here is light, fun, and engaging. At the same time, the movie shows how low a man can go to fulfill his ambition.
It is estimated that Keeda Cola budget is around ₹ 15 Crores, which also includes promotional costs.
As per the reports, Keeda Cola is able to collect ₹ 4.5 crore on its first day. Also, it had ₹ 10 crore in pre-release business. The movie is doing better in the United States with nearly ₹3.5+ crores collection as yet. It seems the audience overseas is enjoying the movie more than the Telugu states in India.
Initially, the movie was released on limited screens in Andhra Pradesh; however, as the distributors saw the craze among people for the movie, additional screens were added. Today, it has an overall 31.44% Telugu Occupancy.
The OTT platform name that Keeda Cola is expected to release is Aha- a dedicated Tamil and Telugu OTT platform. The movie's rights were secured by Aha recently; however, the Keeda Cola OTT release date is not yet confirmed.
As per the first day’s reviews, the humour of Keeda Cola impresses the audience to some extent, just like other movies from Tharun Bhascker. It keeps them engaged and waiting for the trill and ending. The audience witnessed the trademark comedy of Tharun Bhascker in many scenes. Some parts will definitely tickle the stomach. The visuals are great, and the soundtracks are amazing.
However, a weak storyline may hinder the film from being the next blockbuster of Telugu cinema. If audiences are reaching cinema halls to watch a solid story with great narration, they may feel a little disappointed.
