Sudarshan, who was opening for Gujarat in a big match of IPL 2024, scored a century in just 50 balls to take the team to a great score. Along with this, Sudarshan also equalled the figure of missing the century against Chennai in the IPL final last year. He did this in Ahmedabad. He also became the fastest Indian to score 1000 runs in IPL.
Last year, in the IPL final against Chennai, Sai Sudarshan could not complete his century. Sudarshan scored 96 runs in the match. In that final, Gujarat had lost but this time Sudarshan helped the team to a big score of 231 runs. Sudarshan's century came at a time when this match was the most important for his team because with the defeat here, the team's boredom-bed would be closed.
Sudarshan, who has been batting consistently in IPL 2024 and managing Gujarat, came out to open this time. He took full advantage of that. After a slow start in the powerplay, Sudharshan took aim at the Chennai bowlers. In particular, he scored boundaries against spinner Ravindra Jadeja and inexperienced pacer Simarjeet. Sudarshan completed his half-century in 32 balls and then scored the remaining 50 runs in the next 20 balls to score the first century of his IPL career.

Batting first, Gujarat made 231 runs in 20 overs. Sudarshan crossed the 50-plus mark for the fourth time this season. He scored 103 runs (51 balls, 5 fours, 7 sixes) in the 18th over. He stitched a partnership of 210 runs in 98 balls with Gill. Gill also played a knock of 104 runs in 55 balls, which is his first and overall fourth century this season.
