Shivaji was born on February 19, 1630 in Shivneri Durg in a Maratha family. His name was Shivaji. His father, Shahajiraje Bhonsle, was born into a powerful feudal royal family. His father was a general in the Ahmednagar Sultanate. His mother Jijabai was an exceptionally talented woman born into the Jadhavrao clan. Parents had a great influence on the character of Shivaji Maharaj. He spent his childhood under the guidance of his mother. His mother was interested in religious texts. He was trained in politics and warfare.
He was a great king and strategist of India who laid the foundation of the Maratha Empire in western India in 1674 AD. For this, he fought with Aurangzeb, the ruler of the Mughal Empire. He was crowned at Raigarh in 1674 and became the Chhatrapati. But a few years later, he died on 3 April 1680 due to a serious illness. After Shivaji, his son Sambhaji took charge of the state.
