Kia defines itself by providing inexpensive, feature-rich, and well-designed cars to Indian consumers. The brand appeals to those looking for premium cars at reasonable prices by offering a premium experience with contemporary amenities.
Korea's oldest automobile manufacturer, Kia Corporation, was established in May 1944. From modest beginnings as a manufacturer of bicycles and motorbikes, Kia has expanded to become the fifth largest car in the world as a member of the vibrant, international Hyundai-Kia Automotive manufacturer.
Zero Foundation's main initiatives is the Global New Car Assessment Programme (Global NCAP).
Global NCAP facilitates collaboration between new car assessment programs across the globe and encourages the global acceptance of the most significant motor vehicle safety criteria set forth by the United Nations. The following vision, mission statement, and road map have been adopted by Global NCAPs.
VISION
MISSION STATEMENT
ROAD MAP FOR SAFER VEHICLES 2020
The Road Map for Safer Vehicles 2020, which Global NCAP accepted, offers a suggested timeline for UN Member States to implement the most significant UN vehicle safety standards. By the end of the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety in 2020, at the latest, we suggest that these laws, or similar national performance criteria, be applied first to new models and then to all cars in production.
Every NCAP has its own set of procedures for evaluating and rating automobile crashes. As a result, there is still no way to interchange the test results. The full frontal, side pole, side impact, offset, and front testing, for instance, are carried out by Euro NCAP. The Global NCAP, on the other hand, is based only on front offset crash testing. The primary purpose of the front offset crash test is to replicate a head-on collision between two distinct cars.
A specific vehicle is driven into a unique deformable barrier at a consistent speed of 64 kmph with only 40% overlap as part of the Global NCAP testing protocol. This is meant to simulate any collision between two different four-wheelers of ideal weight traveling at no more than 50 kmph. The main goal is to highlight the significant variations in the unique front offset test speed between the Global NCAP and the Indian regulatory bodies that have been appointed.
The minimum regulatory criteria are usually deemed inferior to the standards set by NCAP in order to receive a respectable score.
There is no car that can theoretically fail any regular NCAP test, unlike government regulation tests. Every four-wheeler that complies with NCAP regulations is given a unique rating on a five-star level. The goal is to increase your score in order to move up the scale. As a consequence of the crash test, the rating is based on the Adult Occupant Protection and Child Occupant Protection scores.
Although the Kia Sonet has not yet undergone Global NCAP testing, we can still anticipate a respectable level of performance from the small SUV. Six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC with Hill Ascent Control, Vehicle Stability Management, ISOFIX child anchor, front and rear parking sensors with a rear camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system are among the safety features that come standard with the Sonet. These are rather contemporary safety devices, suggesting a respectable potential safety rating. It is not mandatory for automakers to submit their vehicles for the safety rating assessment. They voluntarily choose to send their goods to the NCAP. We are unable to determine the SUV's true safety rating until that time.
Kia intends to achieve a perfect 5-star safety rating and this will be Sonet's first crash test. We anticipate the crash test of the Seltos, a popular SUV, in addition to the Kia Sonet. The Kia Seltos boasts a robust feature set and a variety of powertrain options. The SUV has received a lot of criticism for receiving only three stars from Global NCAP. After the most recent redesign, the brand appears to have enhanced the SUV's build quality, thus we anticipate the Seltos to receive 5-star reviews.
The first two vehicles put through the new Bharat NCAP crash test standards are the Kia Sonet Facelift and the Tata Punch.
The Bharat New Car Assessment Programme, often known as the Bharat NCAP, was introduced earlier this year by Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari. The new company that will evaluate an automobile's safety ratings and how well it handles various collision scenarios is called Bharat NCAP.
Launching the facelifted version of Sonet compact SUV on December 14, 2023, is something Kia has previously confirmed. The base-spec Sonet HTE that has been facelifted is most likely the one that Bharat NCAP has released photos of. Kia may introduce the Sonet facelift as the first vehicle to undergo testing by Global NCAP, along with the product's crash test scores.
