In bowling, left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya played a key role in Lucknow's victory. Krunal Pandya took 2 wickets for 16 runs in 3 overs.
MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja have done well for Chennai Super Kings. He scored 57 runs off 40 balls. Dhoni remained unbeaten on 28 off 9 balls. Moeen Ali also chipped in with 30 off 20 balls. Chennai Super Kings suffered their third defeat in 7 matches. Lucknow, on the other hand, have won four out of their seven matches. However, they are still at the fifth position in the points table.

Shivam Dube was dismissed by Stoinis for just 3 runs and his wicket was a big blow to Chennai. However, in the end, Moeen Ali's 30 off 20 balls and Dhoni's 28 off 9 balls gave the team a fighting chance but KL Rahul-De Kock undid all their hard work.

The duo added 54 runs in the powerplay. KL Rahul, in particular, played a very aggressive style and this player scored a half-century in 31 balls. Lucknow crossed the 100 mark in 10.5 overs and it was this partnership of De Kock-Rahul that ensured Chennai's defeat.
